13 Days of Silence: The Podcast
🎙️13 Days of Silence: The Podcast - Living in the After
All I ever wanted was for Rylee’s story to outlive the headlines of his murder.
When I wrote 13 Days of Silence, I hoped it would help people understand what those thirteen days were really like for a mother waiting for answers. What I never expected was that readers from around the world would connect with the story and that I would have opportunities to share Rylee’s story through interviews, podcasts, speaking engagements, and conversations with people I never would have met otherwise.
Something unexpected happened along the way.
Every time I had the opportunity to talk about Rylee, it reminded me that his life mattered. That he was more than a case number, a headline, or a court file. It gave me the chance to share who he was, not just what happened to him.
And I realized something many families already know:
We never stop wanting people to remember the people we love.
That is the inspiration behind 13 Days of Silence: The Podcast.
This will not be a podcast about perpetrators.
It will be a podcast about people.
The mothers.
The fathers.
The siblings.
The spouses.
The friends.
The people left behind.
Each episode will feature conversations with individuals whose lives have been forever changed by tragedy, loss, trauma, injustice, grief, or survival. Together, we’ll talk about the people they love, the lives they lived, the challenges they’ve faced, and the ways they continue moving forward.
And because I am a lifelong learner with a background in emergency medicine and a growing education in psychology, I will occasionally share my own reflections on grief, recovery, resilience, identity, and what it means to keep living after life changes forever.
Because every victim had a life before they became a headline.
And every family deserves the chance to tell that story.
People often talk about turning pain into purpose.
For me, this may be what that looks like. ❤️
