Rylee James Memorial Welding Scholarship

The Rylee James Memorial Welding Scholarship was created in memory of my son, Rylee, and his love of welding.

After Rylee was murdered in 2022, I wanted part of his legacy to be about more than how his life ended. Rylee was a welder, and creating this scholarship became a way to carry something he cared about forward by giving someone else the opportunity to learn a trade, build a skill, and create a future of their own.

The scholarship was established in partnership with Kilroy’s Workshop in Colorado Springs, the same place that helped me learn to weld and create a memorial marker for Rylee.
